Work Experience
Marcy's career is built on a foundation of integrated literacy and technology. As a Math and Science 4th Grade Teacher (2005–2007), she developed memorable lessons using the 5E instructional model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate). Her deliberate strategy consistently leveraged picture books to engage and build foundational literacy, utilized labs and research for exploration, and challenged students with instructional technology projects for final evaluation. This approach carried into her subsequent role as a School Librarian and Gifted/Talented Coordinator (2007–2015), serving students from Kindergarten to 8th grade. She collaborated with faculty across content areas to integrate instructional technology and transform campus libraries into vibrant, tech-integrated, experiential learning environments. Programs like the launch of a Makerspace underscored her commitment to hands-on learning, demonstrating a history of maximizing resource utilization and promoting active student engagement.
As the Library Services Coordinator for Socorro ISD (2016–Present), she has led significant district-wide initiatives focusing on compliance with Texas library laws and standards, strategic planning (including TEKS-aligned curriculum design and technology deployment), and fostering student engagement through innovative programming (e.g., Battle of the Bluebonnets, eSports).

Programming that incorporated reading materials and research on the national parks, distribution of park passes for 4th graders, park ranger presentations at campuses, field trips to Chamizal National Memorial to learn how to "leave no trace" and a culminating hike at Guadalupe Mountains National Park.
